After Hours

After Hours Support Service.

People who have experienced chronic homelessness often have complex needs and are at significant risk of returning to homelessness if not supported.

Our After-Hours Support Service (AHSS) is a partnership between Homeless Healthcare and Ruah Community Services. Homeless Healthcare provides nursing staff 7 days a week and Ruah Community Services provide outreach staff.

By reducing the high levels of contact homeless people have with both the justice and hospital system, this service helps to reduce the burden placed on police and emergency departments.

The aim of the service is to provide medical and social support to help improve quality of life and assist in the retention of housing.

Evidence shows that those who have recently been housed still have the same health problems as they did while on the streets, putting them at a high risk of homelessness.
